There are five generations of the iPod Nano. The 1st Gen was available in black or white with a silver back. The 2nd Gen was available in a rainbow of colors and has a one-piece case of aluminum. The 3rd gen is smaller and more square in shape than the previous models. The 4th gen Nano has a taller LCD screen than the previous models. The 5th generation (not pictured) is very similar to the 4th generation, but adds a video camera, radio, and a loudspeaker.
